Antique Oak Chairs

Busy today crating a fine pair of antique oak chairs ready for shipping and pleased they were like the modern day flat pack furniture. No screws or glue just pegs and dowels took a little time dismantling them, reckon the first time they have been since they were assembled.
Wonderful carving and the craftsmanship gone into making the oak chairs, reckon French judging by the inscriptions, never had chance today to learn more let alone photograph them. Probably won't see another pair again like these....
The final picture not the best was the first of the day should of had a coffee first its been a long week!

Tabard Inn Library Revolving Bookcase

Busy day crating furniture yesterday ready for shipping, The Tabard Inn Library Revolving Bookcase was a little challenging.
The Tabard Inn Library was a membership library founded by Seymour Eaton in 1902. Revolving bookcases were placed in drug stores and other commercial establishments throughout the United States.
A lifetime membership was available for $3.00, later reduced to $1.50, with a five cent deposit when exchanging books at the bookcases.
Each book was identified by a sturdy black case encircled by red tape, hence the slogan "With all the Red Tape on the Box."

Antique Chesterfield Sofas

There are many opinions on the origin of the word "chesterfield" as a description of the item we now know as such. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the use of the word chesterfield was already used in England in the 1800's to describe a leather couch.
What was once a status symbol of the elite is now a much sought-after addition to the modern home or business. History notwithstanding, Chesterfield sofas will remain forever the epitome of luxury, class and style.
Nowhere will you find a more recognized, timeless example of furniture. Chesterfields have been popping up in home decor blogs and magazines for the last decades, some genuinely classic and others re-imagined in mid-century or more modern styles.

We have sold many Chesterfield sofas over the years they don't stay long in the shop to see what we have in stock please check out our shop!

Brass Antiques Collectables

Brass is a metal alloy made of copper and zinc; the proportions of zinc and copper can be varied to create a range of brasses with varying properties.
A horse brass is a brass plaque used for the decoration of horse harness gear, especially for shire and parade horses. They became especially popular in England from the mid-19th century until their general decline alongside the use of the draft horse, and remain a collectors item today
We have a large range off antique brassware in the shop be sure to visit our Ebay shop online to see what's in new today!
